Tramadol Ingredients

Tramadol is a pain-relieving and painkilling medication. It is an active ingredient in Tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram®). Most of the other ingredients contain in Tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram®) are not active. It is worth noting that most of the ingredients contain in brand-name medications are more active when compare to those of generic medications.

Tramadol can be described as a opioid analgesic. Its body functions are similar to that of morphine. It influences the state of the spinal cord and the brain which make up the central nervous system. Tramadol easily fasten to body receptors like µ ("mu") just the way morphine does. In inhibiting the reuptake of brain chemicals such as norepinephrine and serotonin, Tramadol looks similar to some antidepressant medications. These two chemicals among others are instrumental in sending messages from a particular nerve cell to another. Norepinephrine or serotonin is released from the end of a nerve cell as a message passes through it. There is always a gap between the initial nerve cell and that which comes after it. The norepinephine or serotonin enters this gap. The message passes on when enough norepinephrine and serotonin get to the second nerve cell and the receptors to the cell are activated. Any norepinephine or serotonin that is left between the cells in the gap are quickly absorbs by the first cell. This is what "reuptake" is about.
